ABOUT
Talking Heads, Lost Heads and Souvenirs are part of the Counterfeit Sex Series, an ongoing project of experimental comedy shorts. Much like the classic sci-fi where the cyborg becomes more human, mannequins prove there is indeed a lack of distinction between reality and simulacra. The videos are created with film and digital stills (photographed in Amsterdam and in New York) and with video high definition. Some of the scenes are animated with stop motion and some of the dialogues are created with speech synthesis, the artificial production of human speech text. All sound is original and created by Maria Niro except The Gift of Red by Dorit Chrysler.
